Our research is focused on elucidating the role of epigenetic mechanisms on the onset and progression of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. We aimed at understanding how gene expression programs become altered in the brain contributing to neurodegeneration. Our translational neuroepigenetics program combines cutting edge multi-omic technologies with cellular physiology, molecular neuroscience and neuropathology to address mechanistic questions, to identify therapeutic targets and to provide novel diagnostic tools.
